Covid surges in Pakistan; more than 400 cases reported

ISLAMABAD: The number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise slowly in the country as Pakistan has reported 482 new confirmed cases of coronavirus for the first time in four weeks. The positivity ratio has also jumped to 0.95 percent, from the 0.87pc previously.

According to the latest numbers shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 482 people tested positive of the total 50,662 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Three deaths were reported and 639 patients remain in critical care. All three deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sindh reported the highest number of cases with 285, followed by Punjab with 110, KP with 49, Balochistan with four, Islamabad with 31, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with three.

THIRTY PER CENT POPULATION VACCINATED

The NCOC also took to Twitter to announce that 30pc of the country’s total population, 46pc of the eligible population stands vaccinated. Pakistan has crossed the 150 million vaccine administration benchmark, and has administered 155,023,641 vaccines so far.
