Covid deaths jump to 50 during past 24 hours in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: As had been predicted earlier, Pakistan recorded the highest number of daily deaths with 50 during the past 24 hours since February 4. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 4,253 people tested positive, recording an increase of 1,456 cases a day earlier.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported the highest number of daily cases with 1,421 followed by Punjab with 1,415 but it’s Sindh, which despite having reported 900 cases, recorded the highest number of deaths with 21. Punjab recorded 18 deaths and KP 11.

No other part of the country reported any casualty. Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 242 cases, Islamabad 174, Balochistan 59 and Gilgit-Baltistan 42. It is pertinent to mention here that the Covid positivity rate has also increased to 8.2 per cent from 5.3pc a day earlier.
