Accountability Court cancels arrest warrants of Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: On Friday, the arrest warrant against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was cancelled by an accountability court here in the case of assets beyond means. The accountability court had earlier suspended the chronic arrest warrants of Dar in September and said that if the PML-N leader appeared before the court, his warrants would be scrapped.

During today’s hearing, Dar appeared in court with his counsel Qazi Misbah. The counsel asked the court for a cancellation of the arrest warrants in the petition filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The prosecutor of the NAB did not oppose the cancellation of warrants as the finance minister appeared before the court.

Dar is directed to submit a surety bond of Rs1 million. He also filed a petition against the confiscation of his property and requested a permanent exemption from attend hearings in future.
