Cops suspended for doing their duty lawfully at the whims of ATC judge

LAHORE: Two patrolling officers, who were performing their duties within the frame of the laws, have been suspended from their duty by the National Highways and Motorway Police.

According to the details that have emerged, the two had made the ‘grave mistake’ of stopping the convoy of an anti-terrorism court judge from travelling on the highway covered in dense fog. The highway had already been closed for the traffic. However, the motorcade of the judge forced its entry at the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway by passing through the Muridke interchange.

The two cops in picture stopped the convoy and were in process of issuing the traffic challans when the ATC judge threatened to try them and the department under terrorism charges in the ATC court. The cops remain suspended from the duty.

According to insiders, several officers are unhappy with the suspension of their colleagues for performing their duties and have asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene in the matter.
