ISLAMABAD: According to several media outlets, the apex court of the country – Supreme Court of Pakistan – is set to take up the contempt of court plea against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Friday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial will head the five-member bench which will take up the plea submitted by the interior ministry. A notice has also been issued by the Supreme Court’s Registrar’s office to all the parties concerned.
It is pertinent to mention here that Khan had already submitted in his reply that he was unaware of the Supreme Court’s ruling of May 25 and did not intentionally violate the apex court’s orders. However, the interior ministry wants the Supreme Court to try Khan under the contempt of court charges.
