Coalition partners push PM Shehbaz to take unpopular economic measures

ISLAMABAD: The key coalition partners of the government – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P), and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) are pushing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take the necessary tough economic measures in order to mitigate the catastrophic affects of indecisiveness.

They have assured the prime minister of their should he decide to take tough economic decisions. Mr Sharif has also called a meeting of the federal cabinet wherein he will apprise all the coalition members of the decisions taken in the meeting of the top PML-N brass in London.

Since returning to the country after trips to the UK and the UAE, the prime minister has already met the leadership of the three key coalition partners – PPP, MQM-P, and JUI-F. The government faces a serious challenge in the form of worsening economic conditions as the IMF has put the release of the $1billion tranche on hold.
