Buzdar to complete five years as CM Punjab, says PM Imran

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is busy fighting at two fronts to keep his power and seat intact. With the opposition having gone all guns blazing at him with the no-confidence motion, he is fighting one more battle within his ranks.

The disgruntled leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday when the prime minister threw his weight behind Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar. According to reports circulating in the media, Buzdar had submitted his resignation to the premier who rejected it on grounds that Buzdar would continue to rule the largest province of Pakistan during the PTI’s five-year term.

It is pertinent to mention here that Jahangir Tareen, once a close ally of Mr Khan, and Aleem Khan, one of the ‘close friends’ of the prime minister, had demanded of the party leadership to remove Buzdar from the seat as CM Punjab.

The party leadership has been trying to meet the demands of its disgruntled leaders in order to win back their support to thwart the no-confidence motion filed against the prime minister by the opposition.
