KARACHI: On Wednesday, five people got injured in a power plant explosion situated in Tharparkar. As per initial reports, no deaths were reported.
The blast occurred in Unit 1 of Engro Power Thar Private Limited’s (EPTL) plant. The company released the official statement, stating that five injured people were provided medical help and were in stable condition. It added that the actual cause of the blast was still unknown.
Reports suggest that the blast originated from the conveyor belt system that fuels the power plant with coal. The power plant was under maintenance work and non-operational for a few days.
