Bill Gates arrives for first-ever visit in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The pioneer of digital technology and co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, landed in Pakistan here on Thursday, marking his first-ever visit to the country.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan welcomed Gates and shared the details regarding his activities during the visit.

Mr Gates will have a formal meeting with President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with the health officials from provinces and receive a briefing on polio eradication progress. He will also visit the National Command and Operation Centre and Ehsaas programme.

Previously Mr Khan and Mr Gates had a discussion about the situation of polio in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mr Khan extended his appreciation to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for supporting the polio eradication programme.

Mr Gates also applauded the efforts made by the prime minister to make Pakistan a polio-free state and assured his continuous support towards the cause.
