Bilawal questions the legitimacy of talks with TTP without parliament’s approval

Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has questioned the legitimacy of the talks between the federal government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, stating that any agreement would be deemed illegal since it would not have the approval seal from the parliamentary members. He was talking to the media here on Tuesday following the PCNS meeting.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had earlier stated that an understanding regarding a “complete ceasefire” had been reached between the federal government and TTP. He had credited the Afghan authorities for the successful talks.

Bilawal did not take long before expressing his concerns before the mediamen. “Any policy, without the approval of the government will have no legitimacy,” he said.

He criticised the government and asked of it as to who gave it the authority to engage in dialogues with the TTP that has martyred the civil-military leadership, citizens of the country, and kids of the Army Public School. He added, “A policy approved by the parliament will be a better policy with legitimacy.”
