Arrest orders of persons allegedly buying votes issued by ECP

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have been directed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to look into the matter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers allegedly buying votes. It has sought a complete forensic report to check the authenticity of the video that has recently surfaced on the social media.

ECP has also ordered the authorities to arrest the workers seen in the viral video footage. The video was shared in the wee hours of November 28 by Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Twitter.

The video went viral quickly and caused a stir where the social media platforms turned into a battlefield between the workers of PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) who kept accusing each other of purchasing votes. The video has damaged the cause of PML-N who would want to win back the seat in the NA-133 by-poll elections after it was vacated due to the demise of PML-N’s Pervaiz Malik in October.
