Pakistan Army soldier embraces martyrdom in CAR

RAWALPINDI: According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a soldier of the Pakistan Army, Havaldar Muhammad Shafiq, embraced martyrdom during the United Nation’s global mission for international peace and stability in the Central African Republic (CAR). The final rituals of the brave soul were held in Mian Channu, Khanewal.

“[The martyred] soldier was buried with full military honours,” the statement said, adding that he had joined the UN mission in February.

“He was a brave and dedicated member of the Pakistan contingent [and was] ensuring the protection of civilians in CAR and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance,” the statement added.

For the global international peace and stability mission, 162 soldiers of the Pak Army have laid their lives. Lance Naik Tahir Ikram passed away in February at South Darfur after his truck had an accident, while Lance Naik Adil Jan was martyred in Sudan where he was on a peacekeeping mission.
