13 suspects arrested for murder of rice cracker seller

After a bizarre video of people eating at a wedding – with a rice cracker seller’s dead body lying around – went viral on Monday, the Punjab police sprung into action and arrested 13 suspects including the wedding hall manager for their alleged involvement in the murder of the victim.

As per the details in the first information report (FIR), Mohammad Ashraf was beaten up mercilessly before being dragged all across the wedding hall. He had gotten into an argument with guests at a wedding.

The case against the wedding guests was registered at the request of Ashraf’s brother-in-law, according to whom, around five people ganged up on Ashraf before beating him to death.

The Punjab police has tweeted that the initial post mortem did not reveal any marks of physical torture, adding that every aspect was being looked at.
