WASHINGTON: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Afiniti and TRG Global Muhammad Ziaullah Khan Chishti has resigned from his post after he was accused of a sexual assault.

The official website of Afiniti posted the announcement of Zia Chisti stepping down from his dual roles on Friday. On Wednesday, Afiniti’s spokesperson, according to Sky News, said any accusations and allegations of such nature are taken very seriously by the company. However, Zia has disputed all the allegations.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the daughter of Afiniti’s co-founder, Tatiana Spottiswoode, reported a sexual assault by Chisti when she was on a business trip to Brazil with him and submitted photographic evidence in her testimony.

“My body was covered with scratches, cuts and contusion. I had bruises around my neck that looked like I had been strangled, a large bump on my head, a black eye,” read her statement in the report. She quoted another incident that took place five years ago in Dubai.

Consequently, the Pakistan Stock Market’s benchmark KSE-100 index dropped by 101.51 points on Thursday as investors dumped the shares they had in TRG Pakistan Ltd.
