Zahir Jaffer refuses attorney appointed by court

ISLAMABAD: During the hearing on Wednesday, the prime suspect of the Noor Mukadam murder case, Zahir Jaffer, has once again refused legal representative appointed by the court and insisted on having a representative of his own choice.

Judge Ata Rabbani had ordered lawyer Malik Amjad to have Zahir’s signature on the power of attorney declaring the former as the latter’s legal representative, but the accused rejected to sign the document.

“He is not my lawyer. I won’t sign. My lawyer is Babar, who is a barrister [and] he is coming,” said Jaffer.

The attorney whom Zahir named did not show up at the hearing, after which the judge instructed to take his signature in jail.
