Wouldn’t be surprised if some players opt out of Pakistan tour: Josh Hazlewood

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has said that he would not be surprised if some team mates decided to not tour Pakistan on grounds of security. Hazlewood, however, is keen to make a comeback in the team after he suffered from a side strain in the first Ashes Test against England last year.

Australia have not toured the sub-continental giant Pakistan since 1998. They remain the only major Test playing nation that has not played cricket in Pakistan since the onset of the 21st century – two decades of which have already passed.

Australia are scheduled to play three Tests, as many One Day Internationals and one T20I from March 3 to April 5. Hazlewood said, “There’s a lot of things in place and there’s been a lot of work in the background … so the trust is quite high there from the players.”

However, he also said that people would discuss it [Pakistan tour] with their families and would come up with answers, adding that he would not be surprised if some players decided to sit out.
