India ace batsman Virat Kohli has decided to step down from Test captaincy after leading the side for nearly seven years. Kohli is regarded as one of the best Indian Test captains of all-time.
Kohli announced the decision on his personal Twitter account. He stated: “Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India, it’s now.”
Kohli thanked the BCCI, former India coach Ravi Shastri and former India captain MS Dhoni for believing in him. Under Kohli’s watch, India registered two historical away series wins in Australia, are currently leading the away Test series against England, and recently got beaten by a depleted South African Test side.
Kohli was recently sacked as the ODI captain by the BCCI, after which things had gone sour between him and the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
