US State Department condemns killing of Senior Journalist Arshad Sharif

WASHINGTON: The Unites States (US) State Department condemned the killing of Pakistan’s senior journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya. While talking to the media, the Spokesperson of the State Department, Ned Price, demanded an investigation from the Kenyan government.

He said that they were deeply saddened by the incident and extended his condolences to the family members of the deceased. Price said that they believed in the freedom of expression and protection of journalism and had initiated several programs under USAID to protect the media.

He added that Sharif was a dedicated person for the freedom of expression and had done critically-acclaimed work across the globe.
