US dollar loses Rs2.15 in interbank market, trades at Rs224

KARACHI: On Friday, the Pakistani rupee continued to gain strength against the US dollar. The greenback lost Rs2.15 and traded at Rs224.5 in the interbank market. In the open market, the dollar fluctuated between Rs220 and Rs223. During the last five days, the US dollar has shed Rs16 against the rupee.

Analysts said that a positive response from International Monetary Fund (IMF) had helped the rupee to gain value. Earlier on Tuesday, an IMF representative in Islamabad Esther Perez Ruiz confirmed that Pakistan had completed all the targets set by IMF.

She added that a meeting of the Executive Board would be called in the later half of August.
