Mexico

MEXICO: A trailer accident in Southern Mexico on Thursday left 54 people dead. The majority of the passengers belonged to Central America and were trying to migrate to the United States for a better life.

The CCTV footage shows that the truck collapsed while taking a sharp curve near Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.

According to Governor of Chiapas Rutilio Escandon, 49 citizens died on the spot while the rest died during treatment. The trailer was overloaded with people and was, therefore, unable to bear the weight on the sharp turn.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador expressed deep sorrow on Twitter and termed the incident as a painful event.
