TikTok decides to share its data with researchers

The short-video platform TikTok has decided to provide researchers with access to its data and protocols. According to news reports, TikTok was alleged to be a threat to national security in the United States as the platform is related to China. In order to null and void the ‘covert influence operations,’ the company has decided to introduce transparency changes.

Chief Operating Officer of TikTok, Vanessa Pappas, said that selected researchers would have access to the framework and moderation system of the platform. She added that data would be anonymous through which researchers would evaluate trends and content type.

TikTok has also decided to provide access to its virtual hub, the transparency centre, which is responsible for all updates and changes.
