ISLAMABAD: A ‘Track and Trace System’ by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), for the sugar sector, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 23. According to the press release by FBR, the system will monitor the sales and manufacturing electronically.
The system will monitor the process from manufacturing to delivering and usage of the product, providing protection against tax evasion. Previously the tobacco sector was placed under electronic monitoring. Other sectors like fertilisers and cement are in line next.
Under the sales tax general order by the FBR, sugar bags will be stamped with unique identification markings (UIMs) before leaving the manufacturing plant.
