Social media power: PCB rectifies tribute video by featuring Imran Khan as hero of 1992 World Cup

Social media power: PCB rectifies tribute video

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a tribute video on the 76th Independence Day of the country that initially caused them severe backlash. When the video first came out it showcased memorable moments of Pakistan cricket history. But for no proper reason, the video omitted former Pakistan captain Imran Khan who played a pivotal role in leading the team to the 1992 World Cup victory.

The exclusion of Imran Khan caused outrage among fans and led to allegations of biases. This situation pushed the PCB to rectify the situation and re-edited the original video. The revised tribute video now includes Imran Khan’s memorable snippets during the victory of 1992 World Cup.

Fans are calling the move by PCB a result of social media power that made them change the overall outlook of video. PCB, in their social media post, said that earlier some clips went missing due to length of the video.

The video from the PCB includes Test Mace triumph in 2016, Pakistan women’s cricket team gold medal at the Asian Games, Champions Trophy 2017 victory, Nida Dar’s remarkable feat of reaching 100 wickets, and other noteworthy milestones of Pakistan’s cricketing heritage.
