Sindh High Court gives temporary custody of Dua Zehra to her parents

KARACHI: On Friday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) granted temporary custody of Dua Zehra to her parents. The decision was announced after hearing the petition, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, during which Dua expressed the wish to go home with the parents. SHC temporarily handed over Dua to her father, Syed Mehdi Kazmi, against a surety bond of Rs1 million.

The case will now be transferred to the trial court, which will decide about the permanent custody of Dua Zehra. Mehdi Kazmi expressed satisfaction with the decision and praised the court for giving them justice. The teenager went missing on April 16, 2022, and was found in Lahore, where she married Zaheer Ahmed.

A case was lodged against Zaheer for abducting a minor girl, however, Dua always maintained that she is over 18 years old and left the home out of her will. When a medical test was carried out, it revealed that Dua is 17 years old. Later, Dua stated that she had parted ways with Zaheer due to personal issues.
