PM Shehbaz set to revive departmental cricket

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to revive the departmental cricket, which was previously rendered dysfunctional by former prime minister Imran Khan.

In 2019, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government banished the departmental cricket as per the instructions of the then PCB patron-in-chief Imran Khan. Thousands of players faced unemployment subsequently. Sources claim that many first-class cricketers fired during the tenure of Ehsan Mani would be restored to their positions.

Meanwhile, speculations suggest that Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja will resign from the post. He was nominated for the job by chairman PTI Imran Khan. Sources said that Najam Sethi would take over the position, who has previously served as PCB chairman in Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
