Authorities decide to set new police station in Kati Pahari

Security authorities have decided to establish a police station in Kati Pahari, an area considered a symbol of fear for decades in Karachi. For this purpose, Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Research and Development Sindh Muzaffar Ali Sheikh has written a letter to Additional IGP Karachi Range Javed Alam Odhu and asked for details to set up a new police station.

Currently, the Kati Pahari area is under the administration of Sharia Noor Jahan police station. West Zone Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Fida Hussain Mastoi said that the aim behind setting up the police station in Kati Pahari is to improve security arrangements in Orangi Town Division.

He said that Kati Pahari is located on the border of Police Station Noor Jahan & Police Station Pirabad and the accused would easily enter the limits of other police stations after committing the crime, causing a delay in action.

Additional IGP Karachi will provide the name of the new police station, the resources required for the establishment of the police station, the acquisition of land for the construction of the building and the details of the proposed map. He will also brief about the annual average crime rate, the nature of crimes, the population in the police station limits, required police mobiles & police force, and the details of the annual crimes of the existing police station.

Fida Hussain Mastoi hopes that the establishment of the police station will help in monitoring criminal activities in the area.

History of Kati Pahari

In the past Kati Pahari was considered a symbol of fear and was the prime source of linguistic riots and terrorism in the city.

Conditions in Karachi are now much better than in the recent past but Kati Pahari is still the hotspot of criminal activities in the city due to the drug trafficking network. Countless operations have been carried out to arrest the criminals, but even today the area has a large residence of criminals.
