Saudi Army supremo visits India in a historic first

According to a press release from the Indian Ministry of Defence, the Commander of the Royal Saudi Land Forces Lieutenant General Fahd Bin Abdullah Mohammed Al-Mutair arrived in India on Tuesday for a three-day visit.

Al-Mutair met the Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane as well and was presented with a ceremonial guard of honour. Bilateral talks were held and it was discussed between the two army chiefs as to how the two nations could move forward with their security goals and aspirations in mind.

The fundamental purpose of the visit has been termed as ‘defence diplomacy’. The regional security situation was viewed overall as the two nations sought to forge closer ties and bridge gaps and distance between each other.
