ISLAMABAD: The sales tax on petroleum products has been removed by the government. The notification was issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) here on Wednesday.
Sales tax on high-speed diesel, light-speed diesel, kerosene oil and petrol has been lifted to provide the masses with relief. The development is a part of the reforms introduced by Prime Minister Imran Khan to facilitate the public. Earlier, the prices of petroleum products were decreased by Rs10/litre, while the per-unit cost of electricity tariff was reduced by Rs5.
Mr Khan has also announced 2.6 million scholarships for students on merit basis and has increased the Ehsaas programme stipend to Rs14,000 from Rs12,000.
