‘Saadhay 14 August’ to be staged in Karachi after Eid-ul-Fitr, Anwar Maqsood

The living legend Anwar Maqsood addressed a press conference on Wednesday, accompanied by director Dawar Mehmood & producer Salman Hussain, where the performance date of his upcoming play ‘Saadhay 14 August’ was disclosed.

According to details, the play will be staged after Eid-ul-Fitr. The play will run for two months at the Arts Council Karachi and then shift to Lahore and Islamabad. Maqsood said that he hadn’t written a play with the title ’14 August’ because he was waiting for August 14 to come.

He said that after he wrote ‘Sawa 14 August’ and Imran Khan came into power, there was speculation that a play named ’14 August’ will be released shortly.

He shared the one-liner of the play, which rotates around Mahatma Gandhi and Quaid-i-Azam. They are accused of the decline of India. Both travel to London, Kashmir, Delhi, and Lahore to find out who’s responsible, dividing the play into a total of four portions.

Director Mehmood and producer Hussain showed excitement over the project and said they’re looking forward to the play after Eid. Mehmood extended his thanks to President Arts Council Ahmed Shah for his efforts to revive theatre activities.
