Russia bans Instagram and Facebook over anti-Russian sentiments

On Monday, a Russian court ordered to ban Instagram and Facebook in the country. The owner of popular social media sites, Meta, was accused by Russia of not controlling the spread of content that provokes anti-Russian sentiment since its troops entered Ukraine.

Since the start of March, Twitter’s and Facebook’s services were rendered invalid in Russia, and after a week, Instagram also got blocked. Prosecutors requested the Tcerskoi court-Moscow to ban the platforms for spreading Russophobia.

However, the WhatsApp service will be available all across the country.
