ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is set to convene a crucial meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, to ascertain the sighting of the Shawwal moon. Chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, the meeting will be hosted at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
Representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, will be in attendance. Notable figures expected to participate include Allama Muhammad Dr Hussain Akbar, Mufti Fazl Jamil Rizvi, Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar, and Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid, the Religious Affairs DG.
Zonal members hailing from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar will also participate and add their bits to the discussions.
The sighting of the Shawwal moon is of significant importance as it marks the conclusion of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid-ul-Fitr, a joyous occasion celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The decision reached by the committee will guide millions of Muslims in Pakistan regarding the date for Eid festivities.
