KARACHI: In what turned out to be the last game of the West Indies tour, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam put on a solid show to ensure that Pakistan chased down their highest ever total in T20Is, beating the West Indies by seven wickets, to go 3-0 up.
West Indies had decided to bat first after winning the toss and put on 207-3, thanks to solid batting efforts by their batters this time around. But it was Rizwan and Babar who stole the show with yet another 150-run stand between the two, ensuring that West Indies were almost out of the game by the time the two batters went back to the dug out.
Rizwan top scored for Pakistan with 87 runs off 45 balls with 10 fours and three sixes, followed by Babar Azam with 79 runs off 53 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Rizwan, while doing so, also became the only player in history to have crossed the 2000-run barrier in T20 cricket in a calendar year.
Rizwan was named the Player of the Match for his scintillating knock. Earlier, the two boards, Cricket West Indies and the Pakistan Cricket Board had decided to postpone the ODI series to early June 2022 on grounds of Covid outbreak in the West Indies camp.
