On August 14, 2022, the living legend Anwar Maqsood will present the conclusion of his trilogy with ‘Saadhay 14 August’. The promo of the theatrical show presents the basic essence of the play. It gives the introduction of the emotions which people of both sides went through.
The promo, released by Kopykats production, starts with the voices of Winston Churchill, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and Mahatma Gandhi. The three characters are the main pillars of the independence story.
In the first few seconds of the promo, Churchill said that he had a message for constituent members. Jinnah’s voice overlapped and he said that division of Hindustan was the only solution. The last voice is of Gandhi who said that they wanted complete independence.
A bloodstream then stretches through deserts, mountains, and valleys, ultimately dividing the Hindustan. In the background the voices of people screaming in pain are audible.
The play is written by Anwar Maqsood and directed by Dawar Mehmood. Live shows will premier at Arts Council, Karachi, on August 14, 2022.
