President Zardari, Interior Minister Naqvi forgo salaries to ‘not burden’ national exchequer

ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have announced to forgo their salaries in the face of economic turmoil and hardships in the country. Both of them took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce their decisions.

Pakistan is currently undergoing a severe economic crunch. The country’s hopes rest on the long-term bail out package by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for which the prime minister has already tasked the core economic team to start preparing for what could turn out to be grueling negotiations.
