During the New Global Financial Pact Summit in Paris, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif urged the international community to form a roadmap for economic fairness and justice. He asked world leaders to create a mechanism that creates economic harmony through a judicious framework that distributes financial resources fairly.
In his address, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan faced the most devastating floods that affected 33 million people. He shared the stats of destruction caused across the country and highlighted that seventeen hundred people passed away, half a million animals drowned, and two million houses got destroyed. Shehbaz said that millions of dollars were spent out of the country’s own pocket on rehabilitation and providing resources to flood-affected people. He also thanked the countries that contributed to facilitating the affectees.
While talking about initiatives by United Nations, PM Shehbaz Sharif applauded the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for personally visiting Pakistan and foreseeing relief work. He also lauded Emanuel Macron, President of France, on organising the summit that talks about how climate change & poverty causes developing countries to suffer.
