IN case you have missed the announcement yesterday [Dec 13, 2021], Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced to extend the PM health card program in Punjab after its immense success in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The health card program is set to facilitate an estimated 110 million people all over Punjab, the largest province, population-wise, of Pakistan.
What Does This Mean?
In line with the prime minister’s vision of transforming the Pakistani society into Riyasat-e-Madina, the PM health card program was launched in Punjab to facilitate the poor people who do not have the luxury to get costly treatments at private and government hospitals.
Eligibility
To check whether you are eligible for the PM health card program or not, just send your NIC no. to 8500.
Naya Pakistan Health Card
The Punjab Government will start distributing the Naya Pakistan Health Card from January 2022. In case you are eligible for the program, please visit the nearest designated card distribution centre in your district to get your PM health card.
Documents Required for Free Treatment
While visiting the listed government or private hospital, do NOT forget to take along with you the following documents as you will not be entitled to free treatment in case you do not have all the required documents with you.
To get free treatment under the PM health card program, please take the following documents to the designated hospital:
- Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)
- Naya Pakistan Health Card
- B-Form (For children aged below 18 years)
Using the Naya Pakistan Health Card for Free Treatment
When you reach the designated hospital for treatment, look for the counter of Prime Minister National Health Program (PMNHP). A representative will first verify your documents and further direct you to the relevant department for free treatment.
Medical Treatment Coverage
As per the details revealed, 30 million families (approximately 110 million people) will be entitled for a medical coverage of Rs.1 million annually. The medical treatment coverage will allow people from lower-income backgrounds to get state-of-the-art treatment without worrying about bills.
