Pakistan receives another shipment of Russian crude oil under discount deal

Pakistan receives another shipment of Russian crude oil

Another Russian crude oil shipment has reached Karachi port. Russian ship Clyde Noble has landed at the Karachi port, loaded with crude oil, and has been anchored within the port limits. As soon as the berthing plan of the ship is finalised, the work of bringing it to the oil pier will begin.

The ship is currently anchored in the carriageway, which is within the Karachi Port limits. All vessels first arrive at the outer anchorage. From the outer anchorage, the KPT pilot arranges the vessel for berthing in the port channel.

Earlier, a Russian crude oil tanker reached Karachi with the first import of Russian oil. The 183-meter-long Russian ship Pure Point was loaded with around 45,000 metric tons of oil. In this regard, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared a Tweet in which he stated that the government has fulfilled one of its promises to the nation. Shehbaz Sharif added that he is happy to announce that a ship full of crude oil has reached Karachi at a discounted price from Russia.

Pakistan and Russia signed an agreement for the import of crude oil in April. However, experts believe that it’s early to predict whether Pakistan would benefit from the deal.
