RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy blocked the intrusion attempt by an Indian submarine on October 16, announced the Inter Services Public Relations on Tuesday.
ISPR applauded the Pakistan Navy for its “unremitting vigilance and professional competence”.
This is the third incident in five years when an Indian vessel has tried to intrude in Pakistani territories. In 2016, the Pakistan Navy blocked the way of an Indian submarine. The Pakistan Navy detected a similar activity in the coastal region three years later in 2019 too.
Such activities are against the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea which forbids any country to carry activities within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the other.
“The Pakistan Navy used its specialised skills to ward off the submarine, successfully keeping it from entering Pakistani waters,” said a spokesperson from the Pakistan Navy.
