Solid Pakistan keep relentless Australia at bay

LAHORE: Things looked difficult for Pakistan when the Australian batters Alex Carey and Cameron Green batted throughout the first session till lunch, adding 88 runs to the tally, frustrating the Pakistan bowlers in process. Although, the bowlers found reverse, it wasn’t until after lunch that the lady luck smiled at them.

Naseem Shah led the charge with the ball and produced a classic reverse-swing bowling spell. The Australian batters fell in quick succession following lunch, with the last five wickets falling for just 50 runs. Australia folded for 391 in the first innings.

Pakistan openers Imam ul Haq and Abdullah Shafique could only add 20 for the first wicket partnership before the former fell to Pat Cummins ball that was crashing into the leg stump. Azhar Ali joined Shafique at the crease who continued his good form from the previous two games. Pakistan are currently playing at 90/1.
