Pakistan junior hockey team has not only secured the semi-final spot in the ongoing Junior Hockey Asia Cup but has also qualified for the Junior Hockey World Cup by beating Japan in the final group match.
The green shirts faced Japan in their last group match where they had to avoid a defeat to qualify for the World Cup. Japan had the lead during the initial minutes of the game when Kompi Yoshida scored a goal on a penalty corner. However, Pakistan got the lead after Abdul Wahab and Arbaaz scored goals. But by the 38th minute, the game became equal when Hota Yamada of Japan scored a goal. The men in green bounced back in the last minutes of third quarter and won the match by 3-2.
Pakistan Junior Hockey team will face Malaysia in the semi-final on May 31. The team has also qualified for World Cup scheduled to be played in December.
