Pakistan reports highest number of Covid cases since August

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: If there were any doubts regarding the country’s meek surrender to fifth Covid-19 wave, they must have been cleared by now. Pakistan has reported more than 5,000 Covid cases for the first time since August last year.

According to the latest numbers, 2,754 of the total 5,034 positive cases were reported in the provincial capital of Sindh alone. The Covid positivity ratio has touched 9.5 per cent in the country, and 38.79pc in Karachi.

The country has reported 10 deaths in the past 24 hours. According to the NCOC, 827 people remain in critical care. Meanwhile, according to a news report in Dawn, four cities namely Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Hyderabad reported Covid positivity rate of over 10pc.
