SHARJAH: Pakistan hammered Scotland in a one-sided game played here on Sunday. Pakistan started off cautiously before launching an all-out attack on the Scottish bowlers.
Aided by Babar Azam’s gutsy 66, Mohammad Hafeez’s cameo of 31, and a Shoaib Malik whirlwind, Pakistan ended up scoring 189 against the loss of just four wickets in their 20 overs. Scotland, in reply, never really took off and looked nowhere in the game as the required run rate kept climbing with every passing delivery.
Pakistan bowled tight lines and restricted Scotland to just 117. Richie Berrington showed some fight and scored a terrific half century with four 4s and one 6. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan remained the pick of the bowlers as he ended up with the figures of 14/2 in his quota of four overs.
Shoaib Malik was named the Man of the Match for his whirlwind of a knock. Pakistan are now set to face Australia in the semifinals at Dubai Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
