ISLAMABAD: Covid-19 continues to surge as temperatures lower down across the country and cold waves take over. Having reported more than 400 confirmed cases for the first time in four weeks, the country has gone up a notch and recorded more than 500 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest numbers by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the country has reported 515 Covid cases. The highest number of cases were reported in Sindh, with the lowest being recorded in Balochistan, albeit with one death.

Six more people lost their lives to the coronavirus during the last 24 hours in the country. The country had reported 482 cases on December 30. Pakistan had last reported cases in excess of 500 on November 10 with 637 cases.

‘TARGET ACHIEVED’

Meanwhile the Head of the NCOC Asad Umar shared on Twitter that the country had met its vaccination targets by fully vaccinating more than 70 million people by the year-end. Pakistan’s Covid vaccination roll out has been hailed by one and all – including the harshest of the critics of the government.
