National Gender Policy Framework launched by Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the National Gender Policy Framework was launched by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. The framework will provide a roadmap to improve the condition of women and make sure that women get equal opportunities.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar asserted the importance of a new framework. He said that all segments of society, especially women, will get equal opportunities through the new policy.

Umar added that compared to boys, less percentage of girls attend schools, creating a challenge for Pakistan in terms of literacy. He further pointed out the low participation of women in politics and urged for a system that encouraged women from middle-class and lower-middle-class to take active part in politics.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his views and said that his government would enforce women’s rights. He said that country could not prosper without education, and the government was providing financial assistance to parents so they could educate their daughters.
