NASA opens submission for food production system

NASA

The Deep Face Food Challenge has been announced by NASA in partnership with Canadian Space Agency. The aim of the competition is to develop a food production system that could ensure the production of maximum food with minimum wastage and resources for astronauts.

Associate Administrator NASA Jim Reuter said that the challenge would not only provide nutritionist food to space travellers but also help people with food problems. The aim of the project is to provide an innovative solution to the food crisis and aid local food production during disasters.

During the first phase, 18 projects won $450,000 and 10 teams got recognition from NASA and Canadian Space Agency. For the second phase, both former and new participants can apply.
