India becomes unsafe place for Dalit Hindus

Under the Modi government, the existence of the lower caste Hindus of India is in jeopardy. Over 250,000 hate crimes against Dalit Hindus have been reported in the last 5 years.

According to the annual report of the National Crime Records Bureau, more than 60,000 crimes against Dalit Hindus were reported in 2021 alone. The BJP-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh tops the list with 13,000 crimes.

The National Crime Records Bureau claims that on average, an incident of violence against a Dalit Hindu occurs every 14 minutes. The International Dalit Conference reported that about 90 per cent of poor Indians poor and 95 per cent of uneducated Hindus belong to the lower caste.

National Crime Records Bureau reported that more than 71,000 cases, related to crimes against lower caste Hindus, are pending in Indian courts and the conviction rate is less than 15 per cent.

In an incident that happened in 2018 in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Dalit Hindus were killed for sitting cross-legged in front of upper-caste Hindus.

The prevalent hatred for lower caste Hindus pushed Dr Bhim Raumbedkar (founder of the Indian Constitution) to convert to Buddhism in 1956, along with 500,000 lower-caste Hindus.
