Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo becomes new Balochistan CM

Bizenjo

QUETTA: After the resignation of Jam Kamal Alyani, Provincial Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has been elected as the new Balochistan chief minister.

He was elected unopposed as he received 39 out of the 64 eligible votes. The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, Balochistan National Party-Mengal, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and MPA Nawab Aslam Raisani refrained from voting. Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and its allies cast 38 votes.

Earlier, Jam Kamal Alyani, after a month-long political crisis, resigned from the post. The problems started when he refused to grant development funds to legislators.

Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo was the deputy speaker of the Balochistan Assembly in 2013. In 2015, after the resignation of speaker Jan Jamali, he was appointed as the speaker of the provincial assembly. In 2018, when Nawab Sanaullah Zehri resigned from the post, he became the chief minister from January 13, 2018 to June 7, 2018.
