Military coup in Sudan; Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok arrested

KHARTOUM: Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has been put under house-arrest after a military coup. The civil disobedience movement has caused limitations of activities here on Monday.

According to Arab media sources, Sudan’s minister industries, minister of information, and prime minister’s media advisers have been arrested so far.

Armed forces have sealed all the exits and entrance gates to Khartoum. As per sources, there had been growing tensions in the relations between Sudan’s civil and military leadership for a while.

After the disobedience movement, Khartoum airport has suspended flight operations. The arrest of government officials has resulted in riots in multiple locations by citizens.
