May 09 riots: Imran Khan arrested in GHQ attack case

On Tuesday, Imran Khan – founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) got arrested in the GHQ attack case. The arresst took place right after Imran received release warrant in the cypher case.

The hearing of the case took place through a video link at the Adiala jail and was also attended by multiple station house officers (SHO). After the arrest, SHO Royal Artillery (RA) Baazar requested the court for the physical remand of Imran.

Earlier, the PTI founder secured release orders in the cypher case after the hearing by the special court under the Official Secrets Act. The release orders were issued by Judge Abdul Hasnat Zulqarnain. According to court orders, Imran was granted bail and authorities should release him if not named in any further cases.

However, Imran Khan remained in jail as he was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust scandal of 190 million pound and Toshakhna case.

The PTI founder was named in the GHQ attack which was one of the army installations attacked by the PTI along with corps commander house Lahore. Judge of anti-terrorism court Malik Ijaz Asif reached Adiala Jail to hear the case linked to May 9 riots.
