ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has withdrawn its application for the release of the party chief Saad Hussain Rizvi, after which the Lahore High Court (LHC) disposed of the petition on Thursday.
TLP’s counsel Moazzam Malik deemed the petition as ‘infructuous’. “The court had sought arguments on the admissibility of the petition, our appeal for the release of Saad Rizvi has become ineffective so we withdraw it,” said Malik.
Currently, Saad Rizvi is kept under detention by the provincial government to avoid any uncertain law and order situation.
During the proceedings that took place earlier, another TLP counsel, Mian Pervez Hussain, was seen seeking adjournment for the release of TLP party workers. The legal team representing the government also did not argue during the hearings as it believed that the case against the party workers will be withdrawn by the government.
